Leyland Festival of Fun and Health – all for free! Preparations are well under way as Worden Academy gets ready for Leyland’s fourth festival of health and wellbeing. Pictured below are the Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl collecting some of the fruit that visitors will be able to use to make their own healthy drinks. Visitors will be able to make their own smoothie using the ‘smoothie bike’, not only healthy eating but good exercise!

The Health Mela is on Saturday 12th September from 11am to 4pm at Worden Academy, Westfield Drive, Leyland, PR25 1QX.

Entrance and all activities, advice and health tests are completely free of charge. Visitors of all ages will enjoy a massive range of things to do and see as well as being able to get advice from a wide range of health professionals.

Headteacher, Chris Catherall, said “There will be all sorts going for all ages. We have a bouncy castle, trampolines, dancing and even a magician. There are cooking demonstrations aimed at raising awareness of how to eat more healthily as well as a range of health checks which are all free. I really hope the public of Leyland and the surrounding areas will come along and take advantage of these fantastic opportunities.”

Free health checks include - sight tests, hearing tests, blood sugar and cholesterol tests. Find out about and experience some complimentary medicines like Reiki and even have a head massage. Pupils of the school will be on hand to welcome you to Worden and make sure you get to see the best of what is on offer.
