Festival of Social Science 2022

Learning about science is a fundamental subject that helps a child or young person’s growth into adulthood. They build an appreciation for it and seek ways to discover more about it in their daily lives.

In association with Lancaster University comes ‘Festival of Social Science 2022’. It began last weekend (Saturday 22nd October ) and will conclude Sunday 13th November.

You can experience over 200 events across the UK, delivered by 34 universities by means of online, in-person and hybrid formats.

They will consist of:-

• Talks
• Performances
• Exhibitions
• Participatory events
• Panel debates

This year’s theme addresses ‘my local area’. Therefore the content will explore Lancaster’s partner universities’ own regions, from their social and economic history to their dialect, political landscape and the future of their local high streets. 

The festival is led and funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), which supports research and training in social science subjects.

The Festival of Social Science is an annual celebration of research and knowledge about humans and society, now in its 20th year. Lancaster University is hosting several events.
