Swan Lake at The Grand

In 2010 an American psychological horror film was released that gave a dark interpretation of a classic tale.

Black Swan was built around a production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake by the New York City Ballet company. Two roles are played both for the innocent and fragile White Swan and the sinister creepy Black Swan.

Nina (played by Natalie Portman) feels the immense pressure of training for the performance that she eventually loses her grip on reality and falls into a period of insanity.

It’s a much more darker tale than the original Swan Lake but it still has the familiar music and the enchanting dance scenes that capture the essence of the theatrical production.

This is a moment when Odette transforms into a swan in the travelling dance ensemble -

Swan Lake is coming to the Lancaster Grand Theatre on Sunday 30th October 2022.

It is one of Tchaikovsky’s best works, featuring some of ballet’s most memorable music and breath – taking dance performances.
