All I Can Say

In the digital age of filmmaking the cinematographer creates a movie on a  professional camera tripod. He/she will oversee the overall production throughout the duration of the production on set.

In the 1990’s however filmmakers took to creating a rough cut style shoot. This was developed in a movie like 1999’s ‘The Blair Witch Project’. Granted it was staged but it gave the realism of a genuine horror movie in the way it was produced.

Shannon Hoon was the lead singer of Blind Melon and he filmed himself from the years 1990-95 on a Hi8 video camera right up until his sudden death at the age of 28.

Now in a  unique autobiographical account of those years fans can get an insight into his life in an intimate, personal portrayal  of moments such as his band’s rise to fame, his daughters birth and the changing landscape of the world in the 1990’s.

Directed by Danny Clinch, Taryn Gould, Colleen Hennessy, Shannon Hoon, ‘All I Can Say’ is showing from today (Sunday April 10th ) till Thursday 14th April 2022.

Few musicians are able to reveal so much about their personal lives in fear of it reaching the tabloids and being reinterpreted as something more sensational. But this film is able to show a glimpse into a popular musicians life which sadly doesn’t have a happy ending.
