Film Hub North Animation Day

Film Hub North Animation Day

Dates: 16 Mar 2022 - 16 Mar 2022

Location: Virtual

Towards the end of 1989 a beloved animated short film was premiered on British television. It followed the adventures of inventor Wallace and his sidekick dog Gromit. ‘A Grand Day Out’ became an instant classic and now 33 years later the two are captured on a bench in Preston where their creator Nick Park was originally from.

Throughout these three decades he has no doubt inspired other animators to get creative and experiment with animation to create unique films.

The very fact that there is a bench with his two favourite characters crystallized in gold demonstrates what he means not just for the people of Preston but for the whole of the North of England.

This Wednesday 16th March 2022 you can experience ‘Film Hub North Animation Day’. It will begin from 8am till 8pm as a virtual experience.

A range of exciting activities designed to support the animation community in the region is being delivered to an engaging audience.

Fans of Wallace and Gromit can look forward to a new film coming in 2024. The film will be premiered on the BBC. The film will see Gromit becoming concerned that Wallace is a little too dependant on his inventions.

When Wallace’s ‘Smart Gnome’ develops a mind of it’s own, it falls to Gromit to battle sinister forces and save his master… or Wallace may never be able to invent again!

Sounds like another classic which is just what we need right now although we have to wait a couple of years it will be well worth the wait!
