Court and Spark - The Joni Mitchell Songbook

On November 7th 1943 a star was born. Roberta Joan Anderson was brought up in Fort Macleod, Alberta, Canada. 

 

She started out singing in small nightclubs in Saskatchewan and throughout western Canada. She moved to the United States and began touring in 1965 at the age of 22.

 

Her debut album was released in 1968 ‘Song to a Seagull’ where she became collectively known as Joni Mitchell. 

 

Joni’s classic records include the 1970  release ‘Ladies of the Canyon’ and the 1971 record,  ‘Blue’. 

 

However it was the 1974 album ‘Court and Spark’ that featured experimentation with jazz and jazz  fusion and   elements of rock and acoustic based songs which inspired the now touring band named after the 1974 record which is an affectionate tribute to Joni’s longevity in the music business. 

 

‘Court and Spark - The Joni Mitchell Songbook’ are coming to The Continental pub on Friday March 18th 2022. The band will be on stage from 8pm -11pm.
