Ideas Depot

When a baby enters this world it gradually begins to grow. In time it develops speech and walking ability. Within a couple of years it becomes a toddler and starts asking it’s parents  questions about life. 

 

Soon it reaches an age where the child is ready to start school. Prior to this momentous event the child has already plastered countless paintings of it’s own interpretation of mummy and daddy on the wall. This means that when the child enters the school environment it is more inclined to interact with the other children as the infant is encouraged to get creative with art. 

 

Currently showing at The Tate in Liverpool until June 4th 2023 is ‘Ideas Depot’. This is a  changing exhibition specially chosen by primary school children across the city.  

 

Established artist works have been selected with these creative thinkers. The exhibition is designed to make visitors draw their own personal interpretation based on what they see and what they already know. 

 

The display is in close collaboration with Edge Hill Univeristy’s Faculty of Education which is keen to develop a ‘schools in residence’ programme.

This exhibition not purely a child’s view of art. It can be appreciated by adults also. As human beings we value the time invested to create something magnificent so we should never assume that a child doesn’t value it the same way we do.
