Culture Cares Conference

When a child goes through adolescence it can be a very challenging time for them. It’s a process of complete change, they are no longer children yet they are not quite adults. As they mature though they meet like minded individuals to help them build their confidence and self - esteem - an integral part about becoming an adult. Eventually, they transform like a caterpillar to a butterfly and with the support of others become the person they were always supposed to be.
The same concept is identified with care - experienced young people. And now, thanks to Derby Theatre they are hosting their second conference bringing the cultural and care sectors together for insightful and lively conversations, presentations and workshops.
‘Culture Cares Conference’ will take place on Tuesday 16th November 2021 -10am - 5pm. As well as the Derby experience you can also view the event online.
The Arts Council England has commissioned the event to go ahead which is produced entirely by care- experienced young people. This nationally significant event will enable you to:-
- Extend and update your practice as an artist, policy maker, care sector/arts professional or educationalist through examples of inspirational work
- Join practitioners and speakers to explore what is making a positive impact on the lives of young people in care and care leavers
- Hear from the young people themselves who will be sharing their thoughts and questions with delegates
- Experience an insight into the lives of young people in care through an inspiring performance that has been co-created with them
These brave youngsters are a great example for the next generation of those living in care. They demonstrate that through sheer hard work and determination, you can overcome any situation you could be going through. Naturally, many would be shy but through ongoing encouragement and appreciation they come out of their shell and richly benefit from others around them.
