African Drumming and Dance Workshops

Dates: 07 Oct 2021 - 07 Oct 2021

Location: The MET, Preston Market

We’re probably aware of established percussionists in the world of music but what about hands on practical demonstrations on lesser known musicians…..

On Thursday 7th October 2021 you are invited to ‘African Drumming and Dance Workshops’. It will take place from 12noon - 4pm at The MET, Preston Market on Earl Street, Preston.

Participants will discover African drumming music as well as dance storytelling  with discussion time and feedback to raise awareness of cultural different. For example, before the telephone was invented, Africans communicated through drums. This will be taught during the workshop.

The instructor is experienced and professional teacher Phil Kaila. The aim is to facilitate a greater understanding of how culture develops and how it impacts an individual’s lifestyles and life chances. Phil will bring typical artefacts for the people to examine and discuss.
