Preston City Mela

Dates: 04 Sep 2021 - 04 Sep 2021

Location:

We are delighted to announce the return of the annual Preston City Mela on Saturday the 4th September 2021.

This popular event attracts visitors from across Lancashire and beyond.

As in previous years the City Mela will be held outside the Harris Museum on the Flag market.

''The Preston City Mela is extremely pleased that it is able to go ahead and hold its annual Mela event in 2021 with the absence last year due to coronavirus''

The Mela is an opportunity to showcase South Asian artistic talent through the arts, music, dance, history, culture and heritage.

The Preston City Cultural Mela aims to give local North West up and coming artists a platform to show case their skills and talents.

The Mela has its roots in the Indian subcontinent; the word Mela signifies ‘Fair / gathering’. Its tradition is to connect communities.

The City Mela provides the backdrop for community cohesion and brings together people from all walks of life sharing traditions and cultural experiences.

The Mela always provides a rich family-oriented event, full of fun and experiences.

''The Preston City Mela is extremely pleased that it is able to go ahead and hold its annual Mela event in 2021, with its absence last year due to coronavirus. It has been a very challenging period for everyone. The City Mela will aim to ensure that the event is a fun experience''

The Creative Community Group are great ambassadors, and I would like to thank them for supporting our Preston City Mela.
