Tribute Gig for Talented Local Musician

Tribute Gig for Talented Local Musician

Dates: 20 Oct 2021 - 20 Oct 2021

Location: The Continental Pub - South Meadow Lane - Preston

Whilst popular musicians were causing waves 50 years ago in the commercial market, on the local scene here in Preston a talented individual gave a world class performance at every gig which saw him collaborate with many bands over the years.

Steve Hesketh was a gifted guitar player who first came to prominence on the local music scene in the 1970’s. He played with a variety of bands including Crossfire, No Surrender and The Steve Hesketh Blues Band.

Sadly, Steve’s life was cut short when he became unwell with Covid-19 and died at just 66 in December 2020.

Friend of Steve, Reg Kielty expressed his appreciation for him in the following words,

“Steve was an exemplary guitar player and an exemplary person. He drew in fans of rock and blues music from far and wide. However, what struck you most about Steve was his humility and genuine surprise at being so lauded by his peers among the musical community and audiences who witnessed his prowess”.

In response to the great man friends of Steve have organised a tribute gig. It will take place on Wednesday 20th October at The Boatyard at The Continental.

Five bands will perform all of which worked  with Steve and became acquainted with him:-
  • Tipitina
  • The Band with no Name
  • The Conway Bothers Band
  • True North
  • Crossfire

Tickets are £10 in advance and can be bought from stevesueconway@yahoo.co.uk . All proceeds will be going to The British Heart Foundation.
