Diabetes Wellness Weekend 2014

Diabetes Wellness Weekend 2014

Dates: 19 Oct 2014 - 16 Oct 2014

Location: The Belfry Hotel, Wishaw, West Midlands

The Diabetes Wellness Weekend is a residential, educational event and long weekend started by Diabetes Research & Wellness Foundation 13 years ago to help arm people living with diabetes with the tools and knowledge they need to improve and manage their condition more effectively.

Working closely with specialist diabetes teams from the NHS and experts in the field of diabetes from across the UK, our Diabetes Wellness Weekends offer people with diabetes the opportunity to interact and learn more about their diabetes in a relaxed and informal environment. The weekend is open to anyone that would like to attend including friends and family members, healthcare professionals or anyone with an interest in diabetes. We welcome people from any background and age group because diabetes is no respecter of race, gender or age.

Over the course of the weekend we will hold a programme of interactive talks, discussions, presentations and workshops focusing on different aspects of diabetes. We will cover many different subjects dealing with everything from diet, nutrition and carbohydrate groups to retinal screening and looking after your eyes, facts about diabetes to questions and answers, looking after your feet to updates on the latest diabetes research. We will also enjoy some gentle exercise classes and some fun activities, just to give you a taster of the sort of exercise that can be enjoyed by people with diabetes. As always we will introduce a good variety and balance of subjects and include some new ones that you haven’t heard before.

These events also provide a wonderful platform for mixing with other people with diabetes and making new friends.
