Blackburn Paint the Town 2021

Location: The Bureau for the Arts - Blackburn
When a rebellious party animal does a pub crawl they often say they will ‘Paint the Town Red’, meaning they’ll colour it with their own personal signature displayed with a series of shots, beers and cocktails.
In contrast, however when an artist does a special visit to a county he or she will encourage new and aspiring artists to ‘have a go’ in a classic bohemian way. This accomplished artist will not leave throwaway souvenirs of their time there but signed paintings of their work.
This Saturday 26th June you and your family and friends are invited to
‘Blackburn Paint the Town 2021’. It will take place between the hours of 9am -6pm.
Here is a brief summary of the day in full:-
Paint the Town is a challenge to artists of all ages and abilities - beginners, amateurs and professionals - to create a painting, drawing or other artwork in a day. This can be done in Blackburn town centre itself, capturing the town centre over the course of one day, or from home, capturing the people and places of the Blackburn with Darwen borough using inspiration from photos, images or memories.
Please note:-Participating artists will need to book their place in advance and then register on the day at The Bureau Event Hub if taking part in person, or online if taking part at home.
Your work can be digital or non-digital and any size or medium is acceptable but remember you only have the full day to complete it!
Categories include:-
- Children
- Young people under 16
- Just For Fun ( Beginners)
Advance payment of £10 is required to register and donations are invited for those participating in the ‘Just For Fun’ category.
All work will need to be submitted to the organisers either at the Event Hub or online by 6pm on the day. Those who have taken part from home will have the opportunity to drop off their work at The Bureau Event Hub during the following week (appointments will need to be booked in advance) should they wish.
Participants should note:-
- Artwork will be judged according to category
- Entrants will be notified of the decisions and winners will be announced 24th July
- Fantastic cash prizes to be won
- All submitted work will be part of a Paint the Town exhibition following the event.
It will all take place at The Bureau for the Arts, Blackburn, BB1, 6HQ.
