Don’t be fooled into thinking this blog is designed to promote the latest food depot in the city centre. It is however an event meant to build on the growth of our community and how it can thrive in the modern era. 
 
Organised by  UCLAN’S Institute of Citizenship, Society and Change, this online platform will explore the connections between democratic community wealth building, the economics of human and planetary thriving and place- based climate action. 
 
The event will be available online from Thursday 4th February 2021 between the hours of 3.30pm - 5.30pm. As you stay glued to your device for a couple of hours you’ll be able to watch in awe three distinct speakers who come from various parts of the UK both locally and further afield. 
 
These include the following:-
  • Kate Raworth:- Author of Doughnot Economic: seven ways to think like a 21st century economist;co-founder of Doughnut Economics Action Lab; and senior research associate at the Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford. 
  • Councillor Matthew Brown:- Leader of Preston Council and a driving force behind the transformative Preston Model, an economic strategy that presents a comprehensive, interlinked approach to community wealth building. 
  • Professor John Barry:- Professor of Green Political Economy, Queen’s University, Belfast;Place-based Climate Action Network investigator; Co- Chair of the Belfast Climate Commission. 
Learn from experienced speakers how you can play your part in making Preston a positive city now and for the foreseeable future.
