Taking care of those you leave behind - Wills Week - 2020

Taking care of those you leave behind - Wills Week - 2020

Dates: 09 Nov 2020 - 13 Nov 2020

Location: St. Catherine's Hospice

Are you at a time in your life where you’re blessed with dear grandchildren? Perhaps you’re at retirement age. Or maybe an unexpected health problem is making the best of what you’ve got now before it’s too late. Either way, once you’re gone it’s the people left behind that you need to worry about, but rest assured the following information will put your mind at ease.

Every year St. Catherine’s Hospice runs ‘Wills Week’. It’s an ideal opportunity to plan for the future and help support the charity’s important work.

This year it runs from November 9th - 13th and appointments are already being taken.

The hospice’s head of community engagement, Emma Jacovelli, explains how it works and what it covers,

“Each year we team up with our trusted partner solicitors across Lancashire, who generously give their time for free to provide professionally-written wills to our supporters at a discounted rate, and the donations come straight to St Catherine’s. Wills not only cover finances and property; they also address who will look after your children or pets, funeral arrangements, organ donation and more”.

Organisers believe this is an essential part of life that helps to fulfil all the wishes you feel strongly about in a respectful and dignified way. Appointments vary from simple single to mirror wills ( applicable for married couples). They take 30 minutes to complete and are dealt with either over the phone or at  a series of branches across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

Emma develops the conversation further with regards to funding and gifts,

“Wills Week raises much-needed funds for our charity, and gifts in wills fund the care of one in six of our patients at the hospice and in people’s own homes. There is no obligation to leave a gift for St Catherine’s in your will if you take part in Wills Week, but leaving a legacy for charity is a good way of supporting the causes that matter to you in years to come, without costing you a penny now.”
