One Billion Rising

One Billion Rising

Dates: 14 Feb 2020 - 14 Feb 2020

Location: UCLan, Tom Finney

In Preston over 4,000 women and girls aged between 16 and 59 have suffered from domestic violence in the past year.

The University and the Creative Communities Group UK are once again inviting members of the community to take part in an annual anti-violence campaign that brings people to dance, sing and stand together to demand an end to violence against women and girls. This year is the seventh “One Billion Rising” that the CCGUK have held in Lancashire.

This year the global “One Billion Rising” for Justice (VDay) campaign  will be held on the 14 February between 12-30PM 1-30PM in the Sir Tom Finney Sports Centre [behind the Foster building]

Last year One Billion Rising was the biggest mass action in human history.

We will have dance instructor and World Salsa dance champion Phil Kaila and Salsa Northwest helping us with the routine.

We are meeting at the University of central Lancashire in the Sir Tom Finney sports centre at 12-30-1-30 on the 14 February [Valentine's Day!]  We will be getting full press coverage, photographs and statements from visiting VIPs and colleagues.

Dancing is optional, many like me will just be clapping and shouting words of encouragement!
