~Rewind time back to the mid 1990’s. Tony Blair was Prime Minister, the Spice Girls made feminism cool and a cult wave of indie rock music dominated the charts in the form of a name  simply called ‘Britpop’. Amongst many bands in this group such as Blur and Oasis  another key player in the Britpop movement was  ‘Cast’.

Formed Pre-Britpop era in 1992, the group had a string of hit singles from debut album ‘All Change’ . Their follow up ‘Mother Nature Calls’ went platinum having 3 of their hit singles in the top ten. The band split in 2001 and ever since front man and keen lyrical song smith John Power has been developing his solo career.

By 2005 Power was performing his music up and down the country with pre-Cast group The La’s. In 2011 Cast reformed and in 2017 new material  plus a new album is very imminent.

With all this going on it’s difficult to imagine Power still having the time to perform solo, but he does. With 3 solo albums to boot and a shed load of unheard and rare recordings he’s more than keen for the North West of England to hear and watch him play old and new songs.

John is playing at the Blakeys Café Bar in Blackburn on Friday 17th March 2017 at 7.30pm. Tickets are priced at £15 (advance ) and £17 ( on the door). A service charge will apply to all bookings made with debit/credit cards. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
