In 1996 many people chose not to choose life, they chose something else. It was the height of Britpop, the summer of Euro ’96 and, of course the beginning of The Spice Girls.

The latter indie lovers tend to forget, but it happened and those of that generation will recall a certain movie that captured that time brilliantly and has since become something of a classic.

Now 30 years on ‘Trainspotting’ is back in cinemas to celebrate its three decade reign of the absolute smash hit that could never be repeated. Although there was a sequel it could not equal the acting prowess of the stars of the original.
