In 1988 Hull based band The Beautiful South were formed. They were doing ok in the pop charts but when Northern Irish singer Briana Corrigan was initially a background singer in 1989 it changed the dynamics completely.

The rest of the band released how good she was and so became a member of the band. Their major hit was the 1990 song ‘A Little Time’ and despite a domestic thematic lyrical punch it became the band’s only number one hit.
