DISSENT - Lancaster Arts Spring Programme 2026

Definition of dissent -

A strong difference of opinion on a particular subject, especially about an official suggestion or plan or a popular belief.

It only seems appropriate then to name this years’ Lancaster Arts Spring Programme 2026- ‘Dissent’. The subject being the arts and various opinions will be developed through a series of established artists in the Lancashire region for the interested public to view very soon.

It takes place across various venues in Lancaster from Saturday 31st January – Saturday 30th May. Their artistic programme includes commissions, Creative Gatherings and artist residencies alongside the presentational programme. Almost half of their programme takes place outside the venues, especially in places where you might not expect to find it.

A variety of art disciplines will be exhibited showcasing the diverse subject matter of dissent. There are a lot of firsts for the 2026 season, with the majority of artists having never performed in Lancaster or even the North West before, as well as a world premiere!
