Laurel and Hardy - Celebrating 100 Years

When you think of comedy partnerships over the years we’ve been blessed with some dynamic and timeless duos. Morecambe and Wise, Cannon and Ball, Reeves and Mortimer.

In 1926 an American pairing was formed that went on to become comedy gold. Laurel and Hardy were the craftsmen of silent comedy they could do a simple thing and it would be hilarious.

Take for example this scene from a 1937 clip ‘Way Out West’ featuring their funny dance routine –

On Friday 27th February 2026 at 2.30pm, Darwen Library Theatre is opening its doors for ‘Laurel and Hardy – Celebrating 100 Years’.

Neil Brand will present a show providing a nostalgic look back at some of their classic scenes with commentary and history behind them.
