During his career DJ John Peel championed exciting new music to the listeners on his show. He was the forerunner in getting original unsigned acts the platform they needed to secure their longevity in music.

It’s over 20 years since we lost Peel and there is still a void in a person to give the go ahead for new artists. DJs have attempted it but Peel had an edge and skill that helped him connect not just with the musicians but also with his listeners.

The Continental pub on South Meadow Lane – Preston may not have John Peel but it does get new bands a place for the public first play of unsigned acts.

The second edition of Boatyard Wednesdays takes place on June 18th 2025 from 7.30pm -11pm. Volume 2 features – Dilemma, Collectors and Narcissists.
