To get exceptional at an instrument you need practice and discipline. You need to sacrifice other aspects of your life in order to become competent at what you do.

Dean Masser in such an individual. As an award winning jazz saxophonist his determination as a musician is to continue the legacy of the bebop tradition by teaching, composing, recording and playing for live audiences.

He started his professional career as a member of the Jack Parnell Quartet and recorded a live album during a week-long stint at Ronnie Scott’s shortly after graduating from Leeds College of Music as Saxophone Prize winner.

Dean has played with some big names in the jazz world and his keen goal is to help younger, less experienced musicians to come through and get to the similar level he has attained.

Now almost three years later he’ll be playing with his band – Dean Masser Quartet as part of the Snug Sofa Sessions at The Continental pub – South Meadow Lane – Preston on Sunday 26th January 2025 from 7pm – 10.30pm.

Entrance is free however space is limited so please arrive early if you’d like a seat.

This show is a testament to his talents on the saxophone as many of his former students have been inspired to pursue music as a career and are now professional musicians.
