Queen Extravaganza - Celebrating 50 years of Bohemian Rhapsody

Queen Extravaganza - Celebrating 50 years of Bohemian Rhapsody

Dates: 28 Jan 2025 - 28 Jan 2025

Location: Liverpool Empire Theatre - 1 Lime Street

On 31st October 1975 something quite extraordinary was released by the rock band Queen. Having already cemented their status with their self-titled debut album in 1973 and it’s follow up Queen 2 and ‘Sheer Heart Attack’ in 1974. The band was about to shift the axis of rock music to a whole new level with the release of ‘A Night at the Opera’ – sealing their fate as one of the most compelling rock bands of the 1970’s.

Why? Because it was preceded by one of their classics in the Queen back catalogue – Bohemian Rhapsody. Written by the late great Freddie Mercury, the song is a six-minute suite, notable for its lack of a refraining chorus and consisting of several sections: an intro, a ballad segment, an operatic passage, a hard rock part and a reflective coda. It is one of the few progressive rock songs of the 1970s to have proved accessible to a mainstream audience.

In 2025 a tribute act will appropriately acknowledge this unique and original piece of music, saluting a band that will forever remain in the music history books as one of the biggest bands of all time.

‘Queen Extravaganza – Celebrating 50 years of Bohemian Rhapsody’ – will take place at the Liverpool Empire Theatre – 1 Lime Street – Tuesday – January 28th 2025 from 7.30pm.
