No Direction Home featuring Tadiwa Mahlunge

Sir Lenny Henry is probably one of the most celebrated black British comedians of his time.  He started out in television with The Lenny Henry Show in 1984. But it wasn’t until 1985, when he touched on something quite special.

He co-founded the charity Comic Relief with the comedy screenwriter Richard Curtis and although he has made his name in other areas of television it’s Comic Relief that it is in his heart and soul.

So it came with some sadness for Lenny when he announced on 31st January 2024 that he would be hosting Comic Relief for the final time when the fundraiser came along again this year on 15th March.

Lenny’s reasons were that he felt he wanted a new generation to take his throne on the long running charity to take it to the next stage of its legacy.

On Saturday 22nd June 2024 – Counterpoints Arts presents – ‘No Direction Home featuring Tadiwa Mahlunge’ -7.45pm – HOME Arts Centre – Manchester.

Guest headliner Tadiwa has already climbed the ranks of comedy on television and has even made an appearance on Comic Relief. He could be part of the ‘new generation’ Lenny has been referring to.
