Shaun the Sheep Movie
Dates: 15 Jun 2024 - 15 Jun 2024
Location: HOME - Arts Centre - Manchester
The interests we have as children often stay with us as adults and can even shape the career we decide to choose.
That was true of Preston born Nick Park. He grew up with a keen interest in drawing cartoons and by the time he reached 13 he made films with the help of his mother, her home film camera and cotton bobbins.
In his late teens he studied Communication Arts at Sheffield City Polytechnic and then went on to the National Film and Television School where he started making the first Wallace and Gromit film, ‘A Grand Day Out’.
Over the next 40 years he was able to create some fantastic work thanks to Aardman Animations based in Bristol. Nick’s work is a testament to his illustrious career and his many characters that both young and old can relate to. They are often whimsical, full of fun and humour.
In 2007 he released a series which was a spin off from one of his characters featured in Wallace and Gromit. Shaun the Sheep got his own children’s television series.
Next year celebrates the tenth anniversary of Shaun the Sheep movie which was released back in 2015. As part of Family Films at HOME – Arts Centre Manchester it will be screened on Saturday 15th June at 1pm. Tickets are available to book from the following website link – https://homemcr.org/film/shaun-sheep-movie-copy/
On 21 May 2019, Park announced that a new Wallace and Gromit project is currently in the works, with no projected release date. In January 2022, Park announced that the project is currently in production as a television film for release in 2024 for the BBC and Netflix.
For now though you can enjoy the fun filled laughter of Shaun the Sheep.
