Next year marks 30 years since the infamous ‘Battle of Britpop’ between old indie rivals Blur and Oasis.
Blur were the winners with classic track ‘Country House’ and although Oasis were the sore losers with ‘Roll with it’ they did manage to outsell stadiums as the 1990’s progressed.
However, whilst Oasis were repeating the similar chord patterns and pub rock anthems, Blur were experimenting with American grunge losing every shred of Britpop in them.
By their 2003 album ‘Think Tank’ – track ‘Out of Time’ even created a conceptual jazz rhythm drifting further from their original indie roots.
Now 20 plus years later another tournament is on - ‘Battle of the Big Bands! Ribble Valley Jazz and The Bay Big Band – Taking place at The Continental pub – South Meadow Lane – Preston on Sunday May 5th 2024 1:30pm – 4.30pm.
They may not have the arrogance of Liam or the versatility of Damon but these guys know how to put on a show – watch as they compete in this music face off.
