Ultimate Stone Roses

If you were fortunate to be alive during the late 1980s and early 90’s you would have been caught up in the ‘baggy’ movement of indie music with bands such as The Happy Mondays, The Charlatans and The Stone Roses.

The latter of which were at their peak during the years 1983 -1996 but only had two seminal rock albums. Their debut album ‘The Stone Roses’ in 1989 which is regarded by many as one of the greatest British albums ever and the follow up – 1994’s ‘Second Coming’- which received mixed reviews – although spawned some absolute classics such as the heavy blues rock sound of ‘Love Spreads' reaching number two on the UK singles chart – November 1994.

It was a couple of years later when the band decided to call it quits. However, they experienced a renaissance in the music when they briefly reformed between the years 2011 – 2017 before they called it a day for good.

On a spring like evening you can rewind the clock and imagine all four members are back on stage with – ‘Ultimate Stone Roses’ – Saturday 11th May 2024 – 8pm -11pm – The Continental pub – South Meadow Lane – Preston.

In recent months, guitarist John Squire has been lending his skills to the former Oasis frontman on the studio album – ‘Liam Gallagher & John Squire’ released on 1st March 2024. It’s a dream come true for Liam as he affectionately touts Squire as one of the lead inspirations behind his Oasis legacy.

The Stone Roses remain one of the most pivotal bands of the late 80’s/early 90’s who shifted a paradigm behind the many bands that followed during the height of Britpop fever.
