~Marking it’s fourth occurrence at the seaside town of Morecombe and celebrating 20th century design, fashion, vehicles and entertainment. There really is something for everyone.
Saturday 3rd September between 9pm and 2am at The Platform sees ‘Cross the tracks’ a vintage by the sea after party championing music from genres such as soul, funk, hip hop, jazz, house and disco. Special guests Wayne and Corey Hemingway. Advance price £7.50 plus booking fee. Door price £10.
Also on the Saturday between 7pm and 2am ‘Torch Club’ with the New Squadronaires. Based at The Midland Hotel brings 1940s music at the Torch Club Ball. Experience dances such as the Palais Glide and The Lambeth Walk. In addition a four course menu and cocktails inspired by songs featured in the evening. Only 8 rooms remaining at The Midland Hotel. The Midland Hotel will also be exhibiting a replica of a Mark 1X Spitfire. A team wearing World War 2 RAF uniforms will be on hand to present talks to the interested public about the role the aircraft played during the second world war. Photographs will be allowed as well.
On Saturday and Sunday between 11am and 6pm at the Midland Hotel Car Park will be a classic car show, free of charge. These are vintage cars and are stationed beautifully ahead of the artistic design of the Midland Hotel.
Sunday 4th September sees the Bradford to Morecombe Car Rally. Visitors can take a free trip along the Promenade in one of Ribble Vehicle Preservation’s Trust’s heritage buses. Handpicked classic cars will be on show too.
The Vintage Bike Ride by the Sea comes cycling into town on Saturday 3rd September. The Bay Cycle way takes in Lancaster to Morecombe. Those with bikes are encouraged to take part. Awards take place at 1pm for Best Bike, Best Dressed and Best Family Group.
Finally a food festival will take place throughout the weekend from a range of food traders including Diamond Dogs and Matilda the Tea Parlour.
