Manchester Open 2024

Biennial events can either be filled with fun or culturally cool. Take ‘Comic Relief’ for example it’s been entertaining us for almost 40 years. Comedians and presenters take over the BBC for one night in a bid to raise money for underprivileged families in third world countries. It’s a serious message but it’s done with a little humour and cheekiness to lighten the emotional impact it’s always leaves us with.

You could consider the red nose iconography as a work of art designed to draw attention to the wearer in a bid to do something funny for money.

Another biennial event is currently taking place. ‘Manchester Open 2024’ – Saturday 3rd February – Sunday 28th April located at HOME – Arts Centre.

This culturally cool event is an opportunity to view the local talent of those with an artistic vision and creative ability.

In recent years, Comic Relief has changed it’s transmission to an annual event. It still, however creates the same buzz upon watching it. Co-founder Lenny Henry is stepping down soon and handing it over to the next generation.

The Manchester Open continues to be biennial and the 2024 showcase promises to highlight the breadth of talent in the North West of England.
