Spartacus

American director Stanley Kubrick was a highly accomplished filmmaker. He could interpret novels or short stories into a two or three hour epic piece of movie theatre.

He is probably best known for his adaptation of the Anthony Burgesss novel, the 1971 film ‘A Clockwork Orange’  which it is highly decorated with it’s usage of ultra –violence and male supremacy.

However, rewind 11 years and we see similar concepts of war and sexual deviation with the 1960 film, ‘Spartacus’. Based on the historical Spartacus and the Third Servile War we see Kirk Douglas taking on the role of Spartacus in one of his most iconic roles to date.
