Misleading band names –

• 1980’s new romantic band Spandau Ballet could be mistaken for a theatrical production of Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake.
• 1990’s pop outfit Aqua could be the local new swimming pool in the town centre.
• 2000 rock group The Darkness could be a winter band that plays sombre music.

Either way these bands have been driven into our psyche for us to accept and appreciate.

On Thursday January 4th 2024 The Continental pub on South Meadow Lane is introducing act – Midnight Café as part of their Snug Sofa Sessions.

Great name, however the band will be performing a series of their jazz, blues and rock songs from 8pm till 11pm before midnight and they’ll be playing them in a pub not a café.

Despite the confusion, this brother and sister French acoustic duo have been playing in venues for the past 10 years.

Their rich influences ranging from death metal to gypsy jazz makes for a very unique style, so bring your instrument along for an eclectic jam session at the end of the night.

Admission is free but get there early to grab a good seat.
