In the 1975 original broadway theatrical production of Chicago, character Velma Kelly introduces the show with the song ‘All that Jazz’ alongside a series of other scantily clad women.

Now swap the bombastic, risqué style of show to the sophisticated genre of jazz we’re more familiar with.

Lancaster Jazz Festival 2023 is returning across various locations throughout Lancaster from Wednesday 6th – Sunday 10th September.

Nearly 50 years since it first came to prominence, ‘Chicago’ remains one the best musicals to see. Even the opening number captures the concept of jazz in the lyrical and rhythmical context
