From the cool swagger of frontman Ian Brown to the artistic vision of guitarist John Squire,  Manchester based indie rock band The Stone Roses were a formidable act that broke through during the Madchester movement of the late 1980’s.

The four piece though were formed in 1983 but it wasn’t until their self- titled 1989 debut album  ‘The Stone Roses’ that music critics and woke up the realization that they were going to be big.

Taken from that album was one of their classic tracks ‘Fools Gold’. It became the band’s biggest commercial hit at the time and was their first single to reach the top ten of the UK singles chart and stayed in the top 75 for fourteen weeks, peaking at number eight.

Let’s remind ourselves of that jewel in the crown –

Although the band don’t exist anymore tribute acts have appealed to their fans as they replicate the sound and look of the iconic group.

The Clone Roses 25th Anniversary Tour are set to perform at The Blackburn King George’s Hall on Saturday 18th November 2023 from 6pm.
