Vintage By the Sea, led by Wayne, Gerardine and Jack Hemingway and the Vintage Festival team, is to return to Morecambe for a second year this September.
In 2013 the Festival marked The Midland’s 80th anniversary and attracted over 7,000 thousand visitors to the town. The Hemingway team has since been working towards returning for another successful event this year.
Following a successful sell out one-day event in 2013 this year we're back for a weekend extravaganza. Whether your thing is swing, rockabilly, mod, soul, funk, disco, ska, film, art or design, or if you just want to dress up and get an authentic makeover for a day, the Vintage by the Sea Festival is a sensual delight, a big dressing-up box, a collector’s dream and a joyous creative feast for all ages.
For one glamorous weekend the music, fashion, film, art, design and dance from the 1920s to the 1980s that has made Britain the world’s creative and cultural hot bed is celebrated.
The fantastic setting of Morecambe’s seafront will provide the backdrop and be transformed into a multi-venue playground where, visitors can ‘learn the dances’, take in specially curated live performances, exclusive DJ sets, catwalk shows, brilliantly conceived food and cocktails, or take advantage of the decade specific hair and beauty makeovers and all the wonderful vintage shopping on offer.

Set in the most evocative of venues, The Soul Casino will create the sounds and style of the classic 70s soul club and 80s disco scenes, deep funk to northern, rare groove to classic soul, disco, authentic R&B mod sounds and early house.

21.30 A Ton of Soul Dynamite - Blackpool Mecca icon, DJ Colin Curtis. Nobody does it better.
23.00 Swirly Skirts and Baggy Trousers - Legend of Northern soul, Richard Searling will spin records which will re-awaken memories from those Wigan Casino All Nighters.

The Torch Club is an unforgettable night of 1930s and 40s glamour which returns to the wonderful Midland Hotel on the Saturday evening of Vintage by The Sea. Hosted by Viv The Spiv, this cheeky chappie is without a doubt the most popular character on the UK’s 30’s and 40’s scene.
On arrival you will receive complimentary champagne and strawberries as you take your seat for a glamorous dinner. Menu details to follow shortly.

The Vintage Marketplace gathers the finest purveyors of vintage clothes, accessories, mid century modern homewares, records, music memorabilia and up-cycled ephemera. Bringing together couture labels with prêt a porter and street style from the 1920s through to the 1980s. Must have items selling from anything between £5 and £500. There is no excuse to miss out on a bit of vintage shopping!

Style hunters roam the Vintage site to snap the most fashion-savvy festival goers. Our special ‘fash-mob’ catwalk, are 'style hunted', gathering for a one-off event.
Workshops
Our expert Vintage tutors help festival goers learn a new skill or revive an old one, from sewing vintage style fashion accessories, knitting, up-cycling, quilting, designing and generally getting creative. Print For Love of Wood are back, hosting letter press workshops. Come and get stuck in!

The vintage hair and beauty salon brought to you by Guys n Dolls will provide decade specific hair and make up, from 1920s to the 1970s.
