The Pet Shop Boys

The Pet Shop Boys

Dates: 23 Jun 2023 - 23 Jun 2023

Location: M & S Bank Arena - Liverpool

The 1980’s – a period of sheer nostalgia where synth pop and new romantics were all the rave.

One particular dynamic duo were the hit makers The Pet Shop Boys who were formed in London in 1981. They were responsible for some of the decade’s biggest tunes.

For example, the 9th April 1984 track “West End Girls” was inspired by the T.S. Eliot poem “The Waste Land”. Lyrically it reflected on class and the pressures of inner -city life.

It went on to become one of the band’s biggest hits having achieved club status in Europe and America. It also notched up Best Single at The Brit Awards in 1987 and Best International Hit at the Ivor Novello Awards

In recent years it experienced a renaissance period with the song being performed by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe at the 2012 London Olympics closing ceremony.

Let’s remind ourselves of that fantastic song where both members looked considerably younger  -

Four decades later and they’re back! The mighty duo will be performing all the hits and more at The M & S Bank Arena Liverpool on Friday June 23rd 2023. They’ll be on stage by 7.30pm.

It takes some doing for a band to stay together after so many years. The Pet Shop Boys are an example of resilience and definable hit singles that have stood the test of time.
