“You can keep the good times righteousness

The best parting line

Rather than pretend we are A-1 ultrafine

Shall I be the first then to say what we have found

There's something in our lifetime won't let us settle down."

Taken from 1992 single release ‘Life of Surprises’ – Prefab Sprout were a band that never settled down.

Fusing sounds that drifted into pop, sophisticated pop, jazz pop, new wave and art rock, they had an illustrative career over the past 4 decades or so.

They’re probably best known for their popular singles that get frequent air play – ‘The King of Rock and Roll”, “When Love Breaks Down” and “Cars and Girls”.

Take a look at them in their heyday for the music video to Life of Surprises -

Over thirty years since this was released it still has a place in the hearts of fans around the world. Paddy McAloon was instrumental in crafting the songwriting for the band.

However, his brother Martin McAloon is on tour this autumn performing a series of songs will all know and love from the Prefab archive.

He’s coming to Darwen Library Theatre on Friday 1st September 2023 from 7.30pm. To book tickets simply visit the following website link - https://bwdvenues.com/whats-on/martin-mcaloon-2023/
