It’s rare these days that such a creatively filled event can be attended for free. Sometimes there’s a catch or a high fee to enjoy some entertainment.

Horizons Festival is a free event taking place at HOME – Arts Centre Manchester from Friday 16th – Saturday 17th June 2023.

It’s an exciting opportunity to experience a multidisciplinary showcase of artists from all corners of the world who have made Manchester their home.

Throughout the two days so can guarantee the following –

  • Spoken word and storytelling
  • Music from the global diaspora
  • Artist-led film
  • Visual art
  • Dance
  • Discussion

There will be wide blend of artists from a range of countries such as Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Iran, Iraq, Kurdistan, Palestine, Syria, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe.

The festival invites people to come together, connect, learn, stand in solidarity with, and share the traditions and talents of people forced to leave their countries and make Manchester their home.

“We can choose to see refugees and asylum seekers as people that make our country and society richer and more beautiful through culture, creativity and innovation.” – Rethink Rebuild Society’s Mustafa Alachkar, who came to the UK from Syria in 2005.

Manchester is stronger because of our shared humanity with the many people from across the world who call this city home.

Voluntary donations are taken at this free event.

The Horizons Festival is produced by Community Arts North West and HOME as part of Refugee Week.
