Location: North West Lancashire Blackburn

~When we get together with close friends, perhaps over a weekend it can give us the perfect opportunity to create memories. It could be a jam on a guitar, maybe sharing some food from abroad. We may have a passion for art and performance meaning a quiet and an outgoing person share ideas and mutual appreciation for culture. Whatever we find ourselves doing this spring you can guarantee we’d be making experiences for everyone.

On the weekend of Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th May 2017 you can enjoy much of the above in an event called ‘ The Festival of Making’.  Set in the producing heartland of Blackburn, the festival will explore and celebrate the present day diversity in the range, scale and skills of UK-based making.

Manufacturers large and small will collaborate with artists on a series of new commissions, interlacing often traditional techniques and materials with challenging, contemporary ideas, each to be revealed as part of the final two day, town centre festival.

The National Festival of Making will concentrate on a series of 8 festival themes including :-

 Art In Manufacturing
The results of this series of remarkable collaborations will be discovered in unusual locations as we unite artists and local industrial manufacturers in a creative embrace.
