~~Some of us are blessed with skills and abilities that really shine in the workplace. It’s these skills that inspires the next generation to take up the recent baton. This month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’ is one of those persons. Let us learn more about Lancashire based John Barnett.

John has a real interest in the media and so, after much planning and discussion Blackpool’s Radio Wave was launched on 25th May 1992.  John founded the independant local radio station and 27 years after  it’s inception he remains Chairman.

Mr. Barnett’s other achievements include becoming the founder of the influential Blackpool Business Leaders’ Group and, along with his wife Danielle, ran the highly successful Stardream group of companies.

John’s work cannot be faulted. He has proved time and again his consistency in kick starting things and becoming a forerunner in keeping it going. Here is the top ten list of his past and recent work he has and has done in the community:-

 1. Member and Past chair of the Lancashire Board of Crimestoppers
2. Director of Blackpool Improvement District ( BID)
3. Director of Lancashire Partnership against Crime (LANPAC)
4. Past chair of the Blackpool Economic Development Working Group
5. Past Council member of the MacMillan Windmill Cancer Appeal
6. Past member of Advisory Panel for the Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund
7. Honorary life membership of Macmillan
8. Supporter NSPCC North West
9. Member of Blackpool Variety Children’s Charity
10. Supporter of DofE Awards North West

In recent years he was made an MBE in the year 2000 and later in 2005 became a Deputy Lieutenant of Lancashire. John is also the Patron & founder of the Blackpool Carers Centre & supports many other local and national charities.

John is passionate & works tirelessly helping the local community as best as he can and this is apparent when you scroll down the list of assistance he has contributed to in the area. The CCG is delighted to have him on board and we look forward to learning about his past, present and future work. Welcome.
