~World Mental Health was almost four weeks ago. A day for many that highlighted the growing stigma around mental health and the positive awareness opportunities which took place on an international level.

On a local level  Preston based musician Chris Cleverley released his second studio album around the poignant time of World Mental Day which indirectly has a number of tracks that  defined a number of mental health issues in terms of the lyrics and artwork as Chris explains,

“It was important for me to release around #WMHD2019. While the album isn’t ‘about’ mental health exclusively, it is certainly the product of a thousand related conversations and testimonies. There’s a lot of lives in these songs and anxiety and panic underpin much of their imagery. It is an album to offer understanding and solidarity to these voices.”

12 songs made the final cut in a record that fused anxiety in the modern era. Contrasting from deep reflective tracks to a more brighter hopeful feel, the album blends melancholy with merriment revealing a brave new voice in the ongoing conversation around Mental Health Awareness.

The album will be played in full at The Willows Folk Club located at Wrea Green Institute, Station Road, Preston on Wednesday 20th November 2019. It will be a two hour set from 8.30pm - 10.30pm. Cost of admission is £10 on the door. For more information please visit the following website: www.thewillowsfolkclub.co.uk
