~The fine needle, the vast array of colours, the intricate attention to detail and the impact it has on the incoming public. Words that best describe a fabric exhibition and the great work that gone into showcasing such an artistic craft.

From now until 3rd December 2017 you can experience a fabric exhibition that targets the above thing with sheer accuracy and beauty.

Barbara Brown was the golden girl of Heal Fabrics throughout the 1960s and the early quarter of the 1970s. She came to prominence whilst being a student and has become iconic for creating designs for furnishing fabrics as  some of the most striking and unusual ever produced in the 20th century and won awards from the Council of Industrial Design.

Her predecessor was Lucienne Day and has  successfully developed a series of fabrics that have stood the test of time.

Now in a remarkably new exhibition you can see her work in all it’s glory. It will be on display at The Whitworth Art Gallery at the University of Manchester on Oxford Road.

Also currently on at The Whitworth is a collection of works on the theme of Andy Warhol running now until 16th April.

A series of work from artist Deanna Petherbridge combining the link between art and architecture now until 4th June.

Finally, revolutionary textiles 1910-1939 concentrating art in the western world, this begins on 26th March and concludes on 23rd April 2017.
