~In 1969 history was made. Apollo 11 landed on the moon and the first man Neil Armstrong set foot on a pivotal landmark in space exploration.

Now 50 years later people are still fascinated about that moment in time and the curiosity surrounding the concept of stars and the planets have shaped the minds of the generations that followed.

On Tuesday 10th December you are warmly invited to ‘The Jeremiah Horrocks Winter Lecture 2019’. It will be a 90 minute duration which will commence at 6.30pm and conclude at 8pm. Interested ones should make their way to UCLAN’S Darwin Building in the Darwin Lecture Theatre on Marsh Lane, Preston.

Professor Donald Kurtz from UCLAN will speaking about the relationship of music to stellar sounds. He will introduce the idea  of asteroseismology and  the study of oscillations in stars.

Donald will teach us how  the sounds in the stars help understand exoplanets. A captive audience will see a selection of exciting results from space missions in a multi-media performance of science, animations and the physics of music and the stars.
