~Wales. An established part of the UK which is famous for three key things:-

  1. Rugby - leading the way in sport.
  2. Manic Street Preachers - rock trio creating politically charged anthems.
  3. Portmeirion - a tourist attraction where hit TV show ‘The Prisoner’ was filmed.

But did you know there was a little unknown gem that was also filmed in the Welsh district. Filmed in Ceredigion in 2013 ‘The Circus’ tells the story of Sara,  a young girl  who is trapped by her grieving father’s strict rules and religion in a village seeped in superstition.

When the Victorian travelling circus visits Tregaron in Ceredigion it’s serves as a form of escapism and release from the restraint’s of her father’s faith.

Director   Kevin Allen (Twin Town) portrays this heart-warming and often funny tale about the town’s relationship with the troupe and Jwmbi, an elephant who died and was reputedly laid to rest behind the town’s Talbot Hotel in 1848.

‘The Circus’ is coming to town - at The Continental’s  free film screening this Sunday 1st December 2019 from 2.45pm.

The screening will be presented by Welsh Club Preston.

The Continental is located at South Meadow Lane, Preston close to Avenham Park.
