~The Stone Roses. An important band that set the precedent in the late 80’s and early 90’s  becoming a benchmark for the now classic Madchester movement. It was their hallmark sound of indie fused jangly pop with social realism lyrics that made them so unique. When they disbanded in 1996 it appeared to many that their shoes were too big to fill.

That was until Hounslow four piece The Bluetones came onto the scene. Formed in 1994 the group consisted  of guitarist Adam Devlin, drummer Eds Chester, vocalist Mark Morriss, and his brother Scott, who played bass.

They were about to take the indie world to storm with 1996 single ‘Slight Return’ and it’s accompanying debut album ‘Expecting to fly’ which reached number 2 and number 1 respectively.

Their latest release was the May 2010 offering ‘A New Athens’ which, despite moderate praise from music critics it failed to do as well as their debut album.

After a fifteen year career the band called it a day on 28th March 2011. Four years later they reformed for a new UK tour.

Ten years ago they group embarked on a five date tour of Lincoln giving fans the ultimate treat by playing their debut album ‘Expecting to Fly’ in it’s entirety.

Now in 2018 The Bluetones are performing live once again. On Thursday 10th May you and your friends can see them at The Blackburn King Georges Hall. The band will kick off their set at approximately 7.30pm providing music that dates back to the old age of Britpop to the current indie scene in the modern era.
