~~As a city, Preston sadly has reputation for continuous crime in the community. But what is the background behind such crime and what motivates an individual to take such drastic measures?


This month’s ‘Spotlight on CCG Members’ is an expert in the field of crime. Let us learn more about Lancashire based Jayn Pearson.
Jayn started out teaching as a Criminology tutor and researcher at Lancaster University. It was here where she honed her craft to ultimately teach at UCLAN in 2008.


Her evaluations considers the following four subjects :-

1. PREVENT
2. Domestic violence
3. Reassurance Policing
4. Direct Payments.


Jayn has undertaken extensive research around Criminal Damage and Young People for GONW, business crime for Skills4Justice NI, community safety partnerships, the introduction of PCCs and skills development in the Special Constabulary.


Prior to her teaching role, Jayn was a researcher on an ESRC funded Homicide and the Media project and Senior Research Officer on a HM Treasury funded Family Day’s Prison project.


In 2019 she remains one of the leading staff at UCLAN as Project Officer for the Criminal Justice Partnership.
