~When a teenager is introduced to music it can have powerful effect on them and, given the right training can fulfil a lifelong dream as a musician.

William Thomson is one such person. Born in Glasgow, William moved to Preston at the age of 12 and started playing piano aged 14. He began composing piano music when he started university, and then went on to gain an MA in Composition at Salford.

His previous releases include a six - track EP with songs he created following his time at University. The EP is simply called ‘Live at the Minster’. It was recorded on the Bosendorfer at Preston Minster, just before the piano was moved out of the building.

Recently William has been performing his minimalist contemporary album, New Beginnings, around the UK at venues such as The Mackintosh Church in Glasgow and Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall.

Will speaks openly about the context of his unique record and the influences that inspired it,

“New Beginnings is all original compositions about my travels around Europe and my friends, and I will be recording the album later on in the year. It is likened to artists such as Yann Teirsen, Ludovico Einaudi and Max Richter. The music can be described as melodic, emotive, relaxing and inspiring.”

Now for 2019 Will is presenting his excellent body of work to a special homecoming audience at The Palace Cinema in Longridge. It all takes place this Sunday 6th October from 3pm -6pm. Support comes exclusively from solo guitarist Elliot Cowell.
