~Jazz funk band Jamiroquai once sang on their 1999 hit Canned Heat that there was nothing left to do but dance. When your going through hard times having a creative outlet such as dancing can be great way to take off the excess stress.

Young people in particular often combine peer groups to perform in public as part of street theatre or on stage as a performing arts course.
UCLAN has garnered local praise for providing youths a platform for a career in dance upon graduation.

Now in an exciting new venture ‘In Residence’ is embedding local dance organisations into the heart of the dance programme at the University of Central Lancashire. These include :- Preston Youth Dance Companies, AboutTime Dance Company and Lisa Simpson, Inclusive Dance.

The companies will work to provide an 'access for all' mentality  at the heart of their artistic practice and will  value the interplay between facilitation and creativity. A launch event will take place very soon alongside  the premiere of Project 190, a new performance work made in collaboration with members of the local community, choreographed by visiting American choreographer, Risa Jaroslow, celebrating 190 years of UClan.

The Resident Companies Launch of UCLAN Dance - In Residence will initiate on Friday November 9th between 7:30pm and 9:30pm at UCLAN’S  Media Factory, Room 002.

Cost of admission is £5 for adults and £3 for concessions. You can register your interest by logging onto the following website and scrolling down till you see this event :- https://www.uclan.ac.uk/news/events.php
