The very first Festival of Making made it’s debut offering for the people of Blackburn last year ( 2017).  It helped to promote creative individuals and the products that were associated with them.

This year ( 2018) organisers are keen to incorporate it’s neighbouring town Preston into the festival. With a strong emphasis on technology and graphics they’re hoping computer oriented people will come forward to represent their organisation.

There will be a special preview of ‘Graphic Means’ - a documentary led film which reveals what the industry looked like before the first Apple Mac. It will be  shown at The Continental Pub on South Meadow Lane on Wednesday May 16th.

In addition, Preston based artist and teacher Lubaina Himid is keen to get involved. Lubaina recently won the Turner Prize so her love of the arts and her vast knowledge of her practice will shape a lively and interactive ‘Conversations in Creativity Session’.

Creative Lancashire’s Ed Matthews-Gentle speaks retrospectively of last years events and inviting people to this years cultural highlight,

“Last year’s Festival brought around 30,000 people here from across the country, so it’s important to put Lancashire’s creativity at the heart of this event. We encourage creative people to come along and join in the discussions and activities.”

The full festival takes place in Blackburn tomorrow ( Friday 11th May ). It is scheduled to run for a fortnight and Preston will definitely play a part for the 2018 creative showcase.
