Cold Bath Street - Space Age Gig - Lancaster Observatory - 4/3/18 Creative Communities Group RSS Newsfeed for Creative Communities Group Online art gallery newsfeed

~UCLAN’S annual Future Sound Festival has seen some quirky and talented  performances that has  provided a platform for new and experimental bands the gravitas to have a thriving and successful career in the music industry.

Cold Bath Street are one of those bands. Over a four year period the group has grown from strength to strength  developing their sound and refusing to be pigeonholed.

In 2017 the band collaborated with Soft Machine’s Gary Boyle and  Jazz North’s Stephen Grew. They also released their first album and headlined the Friday of Futuresound Festival.

Now in 2018 the band have gone space age. To complement the release of the second album “Sound Research Rebellion” , CBS are playing a one-off gig at Alston Observatory in Lancaster.  Artist Anne Fox will provide the visuals as well as the staff and telescopes of the observatory.

Simply titled ‘A Dream of Space’ - CBS - Album Launch at Alston Observatory, you and your friends could be enjoying a four and a half marathon of experimental music.

Tickets for the event are £10 which gets you a copy of the vinyl album, ticket for the gig and transport to and from the university’s main campus. Due to space restrictions at the planetarium, the number of tickets is strictly limited. You can obtain tickets by logging on to  event brite.co.uk.

It will be a psychedelic experience with a notable nod to space age musicians such as  Pink Floyd, Bowie, Can and Sun Ra. In the words of Lou Wowski of Dark Matter Promotions it will be “Like nothing I’ve ever heard”
